Biographical notes
1970 Born in Mainz on December 8. 1991-98 Studied sculpture at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg under Prof. Tim Scott. 1996 Master student. 1998 Studio Prize awarded by the Erich Hauser Kunststiftung, Rottweil. Realizes small paper collages as models for a steel sculpture entitled Akrobat. 99-2000 Asterstein Grant from the Ministry of Culture of the State of Rhineland- Palatinate. Large-scale paper collages completed in the studio in Koblenz, along with the Noyane series of wood sculptures. Instructor at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg. 2000 Birth of her daughter Yelena. 2001 Grant for the 9th "Women Sculptors" Workshop in Prösitz. 2001-02 Project grant, "Correspondence in Space" from the Bavarian Ministry of Culture. The project is the first presentation of works comprised of wood and paper as related, co-equal media. 2002 Awarded the ZONTA Art Prize, Mainz. Instructor at the Fachhochschule Mainz (until 2004). Instructor at the University of Gießen since 2002. 2003 Birth of her daughter Yara. First works in the Tanz drawing series completed during ballet rehearsals at the Theatre in Mainz. Increasing focus on large-scale paper wall pieces; first works in the Contrarius series completed. 2004 Vordemberge-Gildewart Grant. First extension of works on paper into surrounding space. Instructor at the University of Dortmund. Completes first works in the Conballare series. 2005 Awarded the Emy-Roeder Prize. Sculpture project for the city of Spaichingen: Korrespondenz. First experiments with plastics in collaboration with BASF. 2006 Realization of the paper installation entitled "Terforation" at the Nassauische Sparkasse in Wiesbaden. First presentation of the plastic sculpture entitled "Lichtschatten" in Berlin. Phönix Art Prize. 2007-08 visiting chair (sculpture) of the university of Gießen. Realization of the plastic sculpture entiteled "Lichtschtten II" for the city of Mutterstadt and extension of the serie with 3 mm plastic panels. First works in the Lumen - and Montcanus series. |
